So, I'm not entirely certain as to what about the basis for the suggested changes within the realm of storytelling gave me pause... I love all of the points and suggestions this article makes, but I am not sure that it is fair to (and maybe you did not mean to) engender the nature of a "correct" hero's journey. Personally, I think we would be better served to utilize the word hero as a gender-less term, than to characterize the more "evolved" form of the hero's journey as feminine. The entire nature of the true hero to the core of the archetype involves a proper integration of masculine and feminine elements in such a way that maximize the usefulness and synergy between both trait categories. We could talk about modern culture's interaction with the hero's journey as displaying a less effective balance between masculine and feminine elements. But if the idea is to not create conflict that leads to toxicity, then would it not be best to avoid creating two sides based on elements generally attributed to males vs. females? I think viewing males and females as opposing forces is a justifiable, but a less effective way of addressing our problems.
All of these thoughts are coming from the intention to provide feedback that might make your writing and attempts to get concepts across more effective. By no means am I "offended" or upset, as it is plain to me the good intention you had in writing this article. I hope my good intention in responding is as easily received. I am after all, a male (a group that would likely be more difficult to convince of the validity of your points here) and thus I figured it would be valuable to report on the reaction I had to this article.
